Great Quotes - an occasional series

“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty. Think big.”
-Daniel Burnham, Chicago architect. (1864-1912). (via)

Very opportune timing as Chicago just won the US cities contest for the 2016 Games. DH Burnham planned the city for the last major event that took place here, the world fair. Who will be the 2016 Daniel H. Burnham? If you ever come here , Tony, you should read Devil and the White City on the plane. I’ll send you the book, if you want. A friend of mine once even had an IT consulting company with the name DH Burnham and their motto “make no little plans”
